Deep Drop Fishing
FUNYET Charters offers deep drop fishing—one of the most challenging and rewarding types of fishing, especially when it comes to the edibility of what you catch.
Available species vary according to Federal Regulations.
True Deep Sea Fishing
We fish in environments ranging from 170 to over 420 feet of water, targeting bottom structures located miles offshore, primarily on the Atlantic side. For depths up to 450 feet, we use heavy spinning tackle. For anything deeper, we rely on electric reels to get the job done.
Species frequently caught include:
- Groupers (black, gag, red, snowy, yellow edge)
- Mutton snapper
- Amberjack, almaco jack, African pompano
- Barracuda and shark
- Tilefish, blackbelly rosefish, hake, and barrelfish
Deep dropping on natural bottom occurs between 550 and 900+ feet of water. While we typically use motorized electric gear for deeper waters, we also offer heavy spinning tackle if you prefer to keep the “sport” in sport fishing.
